Prepare a Great Detox Salt Bath

Dr David Jockers maintains that the amount of the salt should be based on the weight of the person. Here below is the proper amount for a standard size bathtub which usually is filled with 25 to 30 gallons of water.

Epsom salt measurements:

  • Children under 60 lbs: half a cup
  • Persons in the range of 60 to 100 lbs: 1 cup
  • Persons in the range of 100 to 150 lbs: 1½ cups
  • Persons in the range of 150 to 200 lbs: 2 cups

***For every additional 50 lb include half a cup of salts.

In this bath, you can either add Epsom salt or combine it with Himalayan salt. If this is your first detox bath, we advise you to use only Epsom salt. Next time you can add the Himalayan salt, too.

Here it is the preparation:

Start with cleansing and rinsing out the bathtub to ensure that there is no filth or mold in it. Then, fill the bathtub with warm water of 37o Celsius (or 97o Fahrenheit), so that the body do not to use its energy to balance out the temperature. Likewise, this water temperature is warm enough to dissolve both the salts. The use of hot water is not recommended, particularly if you suffer from high blood pressure.

In this bath you do not use any shampoos, oils, or soaps, only warm water and salts. You can have a shampoo bath, but before the detox bath. After you are done with the salt bath, do not rinse your body, just towel dry.

If you are about to take a detox bath, consume healthy and light meal in order not to get dizzy at the end, from having an empty stomach or low sugar.

Make sure to remain hydrated, and for that reason drink plenty of water before and after the bath during the whole day. Likewise, while having the bath, drink water. You can relax by listening to music.

For optimal benefits, soak for at least 40 minutes, and in this period of time your body will successfully absorb the minerals from the salts.

Be careful when coming out of the bath because a lot of detoxification activities are going on in your body, meaning that you might experience dizziness. Therefore, drain the water and start getting out slowly and carefully.

You will notice that the color of the water has changed into a milky color as a result of the removed toxins from your body. The water may become brownish, if you are a smoker or heavily exposed to industrial toxins.

You can take this bath once to three times a week, it really depends on you how you can handle it.

Have in mind: If you are on long-term medication, ask your doctor if you can use any kind of detox. Furthermore, it is not recommended the use of this bath if you suffer from some kind of cardiovascular disease, then it is not recommended for pregnant ladies, and if you have open wounds or burns.
