Coconut Oil is Better Than Any Toothpaste According to Recent Study

Keeping proper oral hygiene really matters as in that way you are as well as keeping your health. Namely, oral infections can trigger heart disease, stroke, respiratory issues, and dementia.  Therefore, treat these infections in time, if you do not want to deal with some of these health issues.

There are many over-the-counter products for this matter, but not many of them are safe and effective. Likewise, there are many coconut-based types of toothpaste, but the newest revelation is coconut oil. This oil is one of the best products for your mouth as according to the latest scientific researches coconut oil can even treat cavities.

The Athlone Institute performed a study where coconut oil proved to be the best oil when it comes to inhibiting bacterial growth in the oral cavity.

The reasons for tooth decay are Streptococcus and S. Mutans, which feed on sugar thus causing pH imbalance in the mouth. The environment in the mouth becomes acidic which on the other hand demineralizes teeth and causes infections.

The lead researcher at the Athlone Institute of Technology, Dr. Damien Brady explains the following, quoting:

“Incorporating enzyme-modified coconut oil into dental hygiene products would be an attractive alternative to chemical additives, particularly as it works at relatively low concentrations.

Also, with increasing antibiotic resistance, it is important that we turn our attention to new ways to combat microbial infection,”

The toothpastes we commonly use are most likely loaded with fluoride, triclosan, sodium lauryl sulfate, artificial sweeteners such as aspartame and other harmful toxins.

Sodium lauryl sulfate is a substance that affects the taste buds thus offering a bitter taste in the mouth. On the other hand, triclosan shows a detrimental effect on the endocrine glands. Therefore, you need to turn to natural options like the coconut oil.
