Likewise, if you have a nice garden with tomatoes and flies are starting to attack it then there will be nothing left from your beautiful looking tomatoes.

These two pests multiply like crazy and because of that people are in great hurry to buy any available pesticide. The use of the pesticide will eliminate the pests but as you may already know its use is very harmful for the people as well. Moreover, they are quite pricey.

Natural Solutions against Fruit Flies and Gnats

Nevertheless, there is no need for worries as there are plenty of available remedies which can efficiently solve your issue with these insects, the only thing that you need to do is to make a trap. For that purpose you will need a cup, a rubber band, and a plastic wrap. You should fill the cup with one of the below presented solutions, then tightly wrap the top with plastic wrap and secure it with a rubber band. Once you have prepared everything, poke holes into the top with the tip of a pen or with something else of a similar size. Now, all you have to do is to see how the concoction will do its work!

The First Solution – Red Wine

Gnats adore red wine, once they sense it they immediately go for it. Therefore, dilute half a cup of red wine with 1 and ½ cups of water and the resulting solution pour it into the cup. Put the container with this solution on place where flies gather at most, and very soon you will see how they go into the holes, form where they cannot escape thus being trapped in the container.

If you are dealing with a serious issue of flies, then you should empty the cup a few times and create a new solution. Prepare as much as solutions you need till you have solved this problem.

The Second Solution: Apple Cider Vinegar

This vinegar is extremely beneficial offering a wide range of uses, and among them is the elimination of flies. In order to achieve this you need to prepare the following combination:

First warm up half a cup of apple cider vinegar and all the fruit flies and gnats will not be able to resist its smell. If you want to make the liquid heavier, then you should include a few drops of dish soap. In this way the fruit flies will have difficulties in leaving.

The Third Solution: Milk, Pepper, and Sugar

This is also very efficient solution for which you will need 2 cups of milk heated and then add 8 tablespoons of sugar and 4 tablespoons of ground pepper. Now, since you have prepared the solution put it near the problematic body area, the flies will sensor its scent almost immediately and will go for it right away, but they cannot escape since the mixture is heavy.

The Fourth Solution: Overripe Food

As you already know flies and gnats like very much fruits and veggies therefore they would be the perfect solution for them. Just place at the bottom of your trap, veggies and fruits, that are about to get rotten. However, for this trap you will probably need a larger jar. You can either smash the fruit or the vegetable or just leave it like that; the flies will come almost instantly.

The Fifth Solution: Lemon Scented Sprays

This solution does not require a preparation of a trap, all you need to do is to spray the area with a (strong) lemon scented spray. This scent will prevent them from spreading as this scent is being detested by all fruit flies and gnats thus making them quickly to go away.

For that purpose, take a clean spray bottle and mix 2 cups of hot water and 10 to 15 drops of lemongrass oil. Use this solution to spray onto your kitchen surfaces.

You can protect your plants from these creatures by mixing 4 cups of water and 2 cups of lemon scented dish soap. Use this solution for spraying your infested plants.
