The study focused on a hundred overweight people who consumed few fibers, which were divided into two groups. The first group ate a daily serving of prunes at a rate of 6 oz for men and 5 oz for women, as part of a 12 weeks slimming diet. Beside this, a balanced diet and physical activity were also in the slimming program, for both groups.
At the end of the regime, the researchers found that the group that consumed prunes, recorded a loss of 4 pounds (in average), against 3 lbs for the other group. The scientists also found that prunes group managed to reduce waist size of 1 inch.
That said, prunes can be very effective for weight loss! We suggest following a diet with daily servings of prunes. Note that this diet is very restrictive and that it should not be followed more than 3 days. Only healthy people can practice it.
Also remember that physical activity is very important during the diet period, to maximize the results. You can do the exercises of your choice: 15 to 20 minutes of running, walking, fast walking, etc.
Here is a typical day of a prunes diet:
Breakfast: a bowl of oatmeal, 6 prunes and a cup of green tea
Snack 1: An apple
Lunch: Green vegetables (green beans, broccoli, zucchini and steamed egg
Snack 2: An apple
Dinner: A vegetable soup and an egg
Following this diet for three days can help you optimize the process of weight loss, provided that you do not exceed the recommended time to avoid any deficiency problem. It obviously that you should not expect miraculous results, be realistic. Also note that results may vary depending on each individual, because we do not all have the same metabolism.
