Soy sauce used to be very healthy and because of that many Americans still believe that soy is good for their health, but unfortunately this is not the case anymore.
A great number of soy products, including the favorite soy sauce are far from healthy. The reason for this is there are no naturally made soy sauce, today they are made of a mix of soy legumes, roasted wheat, brine, salt, and the Aspergillus fungi. Furthermore, soy sauce is packed with isoflavones, including phytoestrogens which impede the secretion of estrogen and other hormones and cause numerous health issues.
Phytic acid or phytates are also highly present in soy sauce which can block mineral absorption such as iron, magnesium, calcium, and particularly zinc in the intestinal tract thus leading to deficiencies and triggering many health issues.
Health Threats of Using Soy Sauce
Harms the thyroid
This happens due to the fact that soy contains goitrogens, which are substances hampering the synthesis of thyroid hormones and interfering with iodine metabolism, hence messing with the function of the thyroid.
Decreased sperm count
According to researches the consumption of soy products reduces sperm count. Excess use of soy sauce elevates the level of sex hormone estrogen, thereby creating imbalance in the male reproductive health.

This substance is a brain stimulant that can trigger many health issues like chest pain, rapid heartbeat, tingling, and depression. Likewise, it is addictive. This substance is extra added to soy sauce in order to enhance its flavor.

Danger of breast cancer
Fermented soy products have in their content isoflavones which have proven to act as catalyst for fast proliferation of cancerous cells in breasts. Also there are reports of interference in normal menstrual cycle.
Soy products contain oxalates and phytoestrogens which are harmful for the kidneys. High content of phytoestrogens may cause kidney failure, and oxalates on the other hand cause the formation of kidney stones.
