Believe it or not, but it turns out having a large booty is a good thing particularly for your health. According to researchers at the University of Oxford and Churchill Hospital in the United Kingdom, this type of fat is related to increased intelligence, lower risk of chronic disease, and to improved health.
Having body fat is not such a bad thing especially if it is well distributed, as a matter of fact researchers claim that if you are having some it is best to have it below the waist, in this way it will serve as a barrier against heart disease, diabetes and other conditions related to obesity.
The Journal of Obesity released a study performed by a group of scientists who claim, quoting:”It is the protective role of lower body that is [thigh and backside] fat that is striking. The protective properties of the lower-body fat depot have been confirmed in many studies conducted in subjects with a wide range of age, BMI and co-morbidities”.
The shape of the fat can be in two forms:
Apple-shaped and Pear-shaped
This fruit comparison can tell you if you are on the right place, for instance having a pear-shaped belly means that you are on the right track, however if you are apple-shaped, then you need to start a healthier lifestyle.
Persons with excess belly fat have more obesity-related issues than from the persons who have excess weight on their hips, thighs and butt.
The professor of medicine Dr. Robert Kushner, specialized in obesity at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, regarding this matter, states the following, quoting: “There’s a lot of evidence that shows that the fat depots are not the same in the body.”
According to professor Kushner stomach fat “is more metabolically active, “which means it can have higher effect on the brain and the overall body contrary to the fat stored in the lower half, which is more stable thus provoking fewer cytokines or proteins linked to insulin resistance and the onset of diabetes.
In addition to this, he states, quoting: “There’s a whole range of these hormonal markers that seem to be more preferentially released from the belly,”
Weight gain is regulated in the brain
The hormone leptin is accountable as well as for fat distribution. This hormone is vital for the regulation of appetite and also very much connected to a bigger derriere. Persons that are obese have leptin resistance very similar to insulin resistance. Their brain does not respond to the hormone entirely and because of that they gain weight without control.
Elite Daily, reports:
“Having a big butt also favors leptin levels in the female body, which is a hormone responsible for regulating the weight, and the dinopectina, a hormone with anti-inflammatory, vascular-protective and anti-diabetic attributes. The adipose tissue of the buttocks traps harmful fatty particles and prevents cardiovascular disease.”
Big bottom means big brains
Having a bigger bottom needs more Omega 3 fats, which are confirmed that they enhance brain function, memory and cognitive abilities. According to researchers, mothers with wide hips have more intelligent children contrary to the ones bared by thinner and less curvy mothers.
