110 Year-Old-Man Shared His Secret: 5 Foods for Long Life

Longevity is something that most people strive for, but not many people can reach the hundred and go beyond. People who have succeeded in this are the most valid in telling the secret of long lifespan.

Bernard LaPallo, was born in 1901 in Victoria, Brazil, and as a little boy, he migrated to the United States. He entered the second century of his life and in his past century he had a happy and fulfilling life that continues even today. During his lifespan he changed four careers, in the twenties of the previous century he worked as a 5-star chef, after that he changed his profession and went into the massage practice for 20 years after obtaining his license at the age of 71. When he was 73 years old, he graduated from New York University for reflexology and podiatry. He worked along with Dr. Richard Schulze of the American Botanical Pharmacy in a study of herbology. Later on, he became an author and lecturer, especially after he was recognized as the oldest living Yankee. He became popular and used his fame to inspire thousands of other people.

You cannot reach a certain age if you have not followed a healthy lifestyle and daily routines. He was known for his phrase “Keep your liver and colon clean”, and for that purpose he consumed the same food every day based on 5 key foods, garlic, olive oil, chocolate, cinnamon, and honey. These foods offered him longevity, at least, he believes strongly in that, and probably for the right reasons.

Cinnamon, honey, and chocolate reveal powerful antioxidant properties thatenhance the overall health and well-being. On the other hand, garlic is packed with valuable nutrients that reduce the risk of heart disease and blood pressure, and the content of healthy oils in olive oil better heart and brain health.

In addition to this, he consumed salads, soups, whole grains, organic fruits and vegetables.  He was not a fan of junk food, avoided French fries, red meats, and hot dogs. According to him these foods are related to the development of cancer and other serious health issues.

Walking was his regular physical activity for the body, and for the mind reading, and doing crossword puzzles.  As an author he wrote Beyond 100: How to Live Well Into Your Second Century, where he states that the human being is nothing without its health. In his book he reveals his secrets for a healthy and long life. Here are some of them:

  • Consume a healthy diet packed with fruits and vegetables like mushrooms, applesauce, avocado, carrots, cabbage, sweet potato, spinach, berries, and melons.

  • Drink plenty of water like he does half a gallon of boiled water every day.
