3 Serious Reasons Why You Need to Stop Using Your Smartphone at Night!

All of us are in front of a computer most of the time as we all want to browse the Net, play some catchy game, or use some new application on the smartphone before going to sleep. There is also the inevitable checking of the weather forecast for the next day, online chatting with your friends, or just checking the taken pictures during the day.

However, researchers are continuously investigating the effects of smartphones on our health and wellbeing and their discoveries are far from positive.

Up to now you must have heard about the cell phone radiation, and most of you have some concerns regarding it. It seems that the blue light emitted by these phones can provoke severe health issues.

“Blue light is part of the full light spectrum, which means we’re exposed to it by the sun every day. However, nighttime exposure to that light, which is emitted at high levels by smartphones, tablets, laptops, and other LED screens, may be damaging your vision. It also suppresses production of the hormone melatonin, which throws off your body’s natural sleep cues.”

According to scientists smartphones are related to the following three health concerns:

  1. Increased cancer risk

The increased light at night causes sleeping disorders hence elevating the cancer risk, particularly prostate and breast cancer.

The hormone melatonin is a powerful antioxidant which our body highly needs it in the fight against cancer, but unfortunately it is subdued by “blue light”. If this is one time occasion it may not affect our body, but continuous use of smartphones at bedtime causes serious health issues.

  1. Vision Damage

Due to the constant exposure of “blue light” at night, retina damage and macular degeneration can be provoked resulting in the loss of central vision, or the ability to see in front of you, and cataracts as well.

There was a patient of 35years old who had experienced cloudy, cataract-affected eyes very much similar to 75 year old person as a result of the use of smartphones at bedtime. The doctor of this patient stated that the blue light of the smartphone was the main cause for his diagnosis. However, this statement needs to be more investigated.

  1. Sleep Loss

“Blue light” impedes the melatonin production which regulates the sleeping cycle of the body. Deficiency of sleep may cause great damage to the body, and cause the following health conditions:

  • Aged Skin
  • Cardiovascular Issues
  • Depression
  • Excess Weight
  • Lack of Memory Recall
  • Slower Response Time

We hope that we clarified certain things about the constant use of your smartphone especially before bedtime. Carefully reconsider its continuous use and save your health.
