The Bad Result of Too Much Sitting and Its Dangers

Most of the population spends their free and working time in front of a computer, Work is work, but when we have free time we should avoid using it in front of a computer and further prolong our sitting hours. This frequent habit is highly harmful and poses a great risk to our health.

Namely, it can damage the spine, cause diabetes, increases cholesterol levels, weakens the heart, leads to obesity, decelerates the blood flow, and might even lead to cancer.

Statistics convey the following data: 80% of the Americans use the internet daily, and at least 90% of the households own at least one computer. According to experts, the number of PC users is increasing by 10 million per year. Furthermore, 40% of patients who have back pain problems are a result of bad sitting posture and prolonged use of computers.

Therefore, if you are person who needs to spend its working hours in front of a computer, when you go home try not to sit in front of a computer again, use your free time more wisely. Likewise, if you start to feel spine and muscles pain, get up from the chair, do some stretching, and move around the room to avoid further complications.

Sitting in front of a computer for many hours it is especially harmful for children as they develop damaged spines, kyphosis and scoliosis. Even very young children spend most of their time in front of a PC as they start to play video games at a very early age.

According to researchers, sitting in front of a computer for 2 hours on a daily basis increases the risk of spine, neck, and joint damage. For that reason, children younger than 12, shouldn’t sit in front of the PC more than 2 hours a day.
