Bees Voted to Be the Most Important Living Beings on Earth

Bees colonies have become endangered species on our planet due to overuse of chemicals, namely the decline of this population reached the incredible high 90%. This is very alarming because bees are not only producers of the most powerful elixir, the honey, but represent a valuable link in the eco system. In fact, 70% of our food production relies on bees, and as well as the fauna on our planet.

The extinction of bees has been triggered by the use of pesticides, deforestation, and the lack of flowers.

As a result of that in 2008 at the Earth Watch Institute along with the Royal Geographical Society of London was concluded that the bees are the most important living beings on our planet. These hard-working insects are integral part in the preservation of ecological balance and biodiversity in nature offering the process of pollination that enables food production. Thanks to pollination bees preserve and protect various eco-systems, animal and plant species, and contribute to genetic and biotic diversity.

According to a conducted study at the Apiculture Entrepreneurship Center of the Universidad Mayor (CeapiMayor) and the Apiculture Corporation of Chile (Cach) along with the Foundation for Agrarian Innovation (FIA), bees are the only living things that do not carry any type of pathogen.

The prosperity of agriculture very much depends on the existence of bees as many crops depend on pollinators. If there is an effective pollination there will be plenty of agricultural produce with better quality and resistance to pests.

Many farmers depend on pollination in order for their cultivated plants to grow vigorously providing them with the needed income. If bees are being extinct their farms will collapse which will bring many financial difficulties, starvation and poverty.

Eco-activists have become very loud in the past decade on the real threat of losing the bees on our planet. Hence, we need to urgently act and support the law that will ban the use of pesticides as losing the bees will become a serious issue for all the people on the planet. The pesticides must be replaced with healthier alternatives.

Many celebrities have started to support the efforts of the eco-activists among which is the well-known Morgan Freeman who went even further by transforming his 124-acre homestead in Mississippi into a massive bee sanctuary. Each one of us can do something to protect our planet,

and the living beings that reside on it, as each one of them, has a valuable role in the eco-system.
