Hair Is an “Extension of the Nervous System” – The Real Reason Why Indians Keep Their Hair Long

There is some interesting finding which dates from the time of the Vietnam War believing that there is something magically hidden in the existence of our hair.

In the past century there were a great number of hair style changes which did not affect the hair style of the Native Americans which remained always long. According to some evidence there is something behind this and it may have a supernatural reason for it.

We shall present you a story which has become documented and we shall call it The Sally Story (Sally is a pseudonym for the real person whose identity we shall not reveal).

As a young woman in the early 90s Sally was married to a licensed psychologist who worked at a VA Medical Hospital where he was dealing with combat veterans struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder. A large number of these veterans were from the Vietnam War.

This is what Sally states in the documented files, quoting:
“I remember clearly an evening when my husband came back to our apartment on Doctor’s Circle carrying a thick official looking folder in his hands. Inside were hundreds of pages of certain studies commissioned by the government. He was in shock from the contents. What he read in those documents completely changed his life. From that moment on my conservative middle of the road husband grew his hair and beard and never cut them again. What is more, the VA Medical center let him do it, and other very conservative men in the staff followed his example. As I read the documents, I learned why.”

In the times when the Vietnam War was still going one,Special Forces were sent to the American Indian Reservations in order to scout talented young men to join the army. They were searching for young men who were familiar with the terrain and were able to perform the kind of skills required for the war like hunting skills and great adaptability to the present terrain. In the end, they managed to recruit some of these men to join the army, however something extraordinary happened, after they had been enlisted and were given their army regulation haircut their skills were substantially reduced. While they had their hair on, they could perform amazingly skillful tasks, but as soon as their hair was cut off they could not match the same standard as before.

After these occurrences, the recruits were questioned about their change in performance and behavior. The answers were that they could no longer “sense” the enemy, access their “sixth sense”, the instincts and intuition were no longer reliable, and were not able to “read” subtle signs or access subtle extrasensory information.

Since this was unbelievable for the recruitment officers, they performed a test. The American Indians were paired up, the ones with an already given military haircut, and the other group with their long hair. In aptitude tests was revealed that the Native American with his original long hair consistently showed better performance from the Native American with the given shortcut. The American Indian with short hair seemed to have lost his impeccable skills which was not the case when he had longer hair.

As a result of these occurrences, the report suggested that Indian trackers be exempt from military haircuts. As a matter of fact, it actually required that trackers keep their hair long.

Humans have been on this planet for thousands of years, fought in every kind of situation from the strongest animals to the basic fight of pure survival. So there must be reason for the existence of each body part. In fact, hair can be perceived as an extension of our nervous system, since it is made of the same cells as the rest of body, these same cells can detect a feather, or a splinter anywhere in the body. Therefore, this may as well as apply for the hair.

Remember the biblical story of Sampson and Delilah, and the longevity of Sampson’s hair presenting his strength, so it may be that there is a great deal of truth in it.
