How to grow lemons at home?

Required things:

  • A lemon

  • A pot or similar container

  • Potting soil

  • A breathable plastic film

  • Plenty of sunlight (as an alternative use grow lights)

  • A bucket

  • A watering can, squirt bottle, or other suitable device

Instructions:

First you need to fill the bucket with the potting soil. After that pour some water to dampen it, and then press the soil, but make sure to leave an inch of empty space around the top.

Take the lemon, cut it into pieces so that to remove the seed. Remove the flesh from the seed by sucking it, but ensure that they are still moist.

Now, plant the seed in the pot, about half of an inch under the soil. Water it, but do not overdo it, and then cover the pot with the plastic film.

Position the pot with the seed in a place that is warm with plenty of sunlight, or if there is not such spot in your place turn on the grow lights above it.

The sprouting will start in a few weeks, and then remove the plastic film. The pot still needs to be in a warm place, but not exposed to direct sunlight.

Your young lemon tree must always have moist soil and for that purpose make sufficient holes for drainage.

It needs direct sunlight for about 8 hours every day and when it becomes big, transplant it into bigger pot and if needed use fertilizer. Once it is too large, place it in your yard or balcony.

In this way you will have your own grown lemons and use it for versatile purposes. You can make refreshing drinks with them, add them while cooking or baking, or add its juice in various salads. Lemons can be combined with some health-promoting herbs such as thyme, rosemary or lemon balm and thus reap many other health benefits.

This citrus fruit is great for consumption but it can serve as an ideal cleaning product chemical-free and as well as for other household purposes. For instance, a few drops of lemon essential oil to the diffuser will offer you fresh scent, it can whiten and brighten clothing and make it fresher, your hair will get that extra shine, and you can always use it as a natural household cleaner and polish.
