Neuroscientists Strongly Recommend That You Visit the Beach Regularly. Here’s Why

We all love the beach as it offers us great relaxation and rest from the stressful life. However, it can offer so much more in terms of physical and mental health.

As per the findings of a released study in The Journal of Environmental Psychology, spending time on the beach can offer remarkable restorative benefits.  The author of the study, J. Aaron Hipp, A Ph.D., who works as an assistant professor at the Brown School and is also an environmental expert, states the following:

Many studies have proven that natural environments such as waterfronts and beaches can offer more benefits to humans than the gyms, built urban environment and entertainment venues.

The most restorative environment at the beach is when the tides are low and the day temperatures are mild. People who were visiting the beach, on a day that was about 3 (F) warmer, than other days, have 30% decreased chance to perceive the coastal park or beach as restorative, comparing to the ones that were visiting the beach when it was colder.”

There is no person that felt worse after a visit on the beach, the sun, the warm sand, and the blue waters offer us stress relief and instant better mood.

Spending time on the beach makes us happy releasing us from the ongoing stress. The calming effects are felt immediately after stepping out into the sun.
