So, in order for the citizens to feel a little bit relaxed a design studio decided to install “cathartic public punching bags” in Manhattan. The punching bag would be a great way to relieve from stress and instead of punching your neighbor, it is much better to strike a punching bag.
This idea and project was initially released as a contribution to NYCxDESIGN (New York City Design Week 2019). It was used as a way of stress relief for the locals and tourists thus releasing their frustration without hurting themselves and others.
Therefore, if you notice a punching bag, feel free to hit it and read the statement carefully. You will read that the frustrations are a part of life and are normal for every human being. They are just a natural way for releasing all bad emotions. The design studio states that this is a healthy way of addressing personal and collective problems in public. The New Yorkers welcomed this installation greatly by using their fists and kicks.
As per the latest statistics the Americans are really stressed out dealing with plenty of anger, stress and worries, and in the last decade it has reached its highest peak.
In percentage wise, more than 55% of all American adults are stressed out during the day. But, this is also very common all over the world, around 35% of all global population claims that is stressed throughout the day. Among all countries, Greece leads in having stressed-out citizens.
In terms of worrying, around 45% of all Americans are worried during the day, and globally this percentage drops to 39%. The idea of having punching bags near your working place seems like an ideal solution, at least for a moment, you will be relieved from stress. They can be used till the experts find something better. Dealing with stress is of great importance, and not every person can fight it off on daily basis. Stress is one of the main causes for the occurrence of many diseases that are affecting the world population.
We all need to find our own way how to deal with stress, and yoga or meditation could be one of the ways how to cope with stressful situations.
