Flowers are very beautiful and they are the most precious gift that Nature offers and Japanese people are very well aware of that. In the four distinct seasons this country reveals a wide variety of flowers. Every season has a different set of flowers that are unique.
Japan is known for its fascinating gardens and parks filled with universal flowers indigenous for a particular region. Both locals and tourists visit these sites and enjoy their beauty.
The Ashikaga Flower Park, located in Ashikaga City is known for its amazing beauty filled with various flowers and trees. Namely, this park is the largest wisteria garden in Japan with over 350 wisteria trees.
The park covers 94,000 m2 filled with wisteria trees which are best displayed during the Wisteria Story – Great Wisteria Festival. During the festival the park is widely visited by tourists.
The Wisteria Trees or Fuji
The name Fuji is usually used by the Japanese and it resembles the name of the mountain Fuji, but the pronunciation is different. The flowers of this tree are really magnificent and colorful with nuances of yellow, white, blue, and pink. The latter color is best displayed by the wisteria tree Tochigi Prefecture.
This tree is 150 years old representing a selected natural treasure that reveals its magnificence when it is in full bloom. The scenery that it offers is breathtaking, you have the feeling that you are looking at purplish-pink cloud that hovers near the ground.
Some people consider it as the ‘most beautiful tree in the world’ with its vertical flowers going really down almost touching the ground. If you are under it, you have the impression that you are walking under a flower umbrella. The branches of the tree are supported by gridded beams due to its age and number of blooms. This tree shows all its beauty during springtime in the period of mid-April to the middle of May.
Aside the iconic wisteria trees, the Ashikaga Flower Park offers other seasonal flowers to enjoy during the whole year. This park demonstrates the best illuminations displays in Japan because of that recognized as the “Flower Garden of Lights” being extremely popular illumination display.
While visiting the park do not skip the tunnel of the white fuji flowers through which you can walk. Plus, the park has other amenities like restaurants where you can enjoy a nice cup of tea and shops that sell plants and local products.
